Title: ‘Fitness Activity’
Brief description/ Remarks:
Being fit and healthy is taking good care of mind and body. A healthy mind resides only in a healthy body and in order to gain wholesome health, the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University has conducted a fitness activity on 09.01.2023 under the “Fit India Movement”-an initiative of Government of India. In the beginning, Dr. Shekhar Jain, NSS program officer briefed about the importance of knowing Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is a measurement of ratio of your weight and height. It’s a good way to gauge whether your weight is in healthy proportion to your height. In fact, knowing the BMI can help you in determining any health risks you may face if it’s outside of the healthy range.
NSS Volunteers started the activity by measuring height using ‘drop down’ tape measure fixed at about 2 meters on a wall. Along with this, NSS Volunteers also measured weight using electronic weighing balances. Followed by BMI measurement, NSS March past activity was performed by Mr. Suresh Bairagi, Security In-charge to assess the fitness and further students screening for the Republic day parade.
At the end of the program, Dr. Shekhar Jain has praised the NSS volunteer’s efforts. The program was successfully coordinated by the Student coordinator Mr. Pratik Sharma (Faculty of Life Science) and Mr. Umesh Dangi (Faculty of Agriculture) and the faculty coordinator Mr. Parag Gholse (Coordinator Campus 1) and Ms. Teena Yadav (Secretary NSS).
Outcome:
Fitness is not just a word but an essential pillar to a healthy and prosperous life. People in any profession can become efficient and excel if they are mentally and physically fit. So, to move towards a fitter India and fulfill the vision of this movement, the NSS unit has taken the initiative to implement a fitness campaign. Upon this activity students came to know about their BMI and its role in healthy lifestyle.
