Brief description/ Remarks:
Faculty of Life Sciences had organized two-day’s seminar on “Innovations and Upcoming Opportunities in Life Sciences (IUOLS-2022)” in collaboration with Health & Nutrition Club, for the students of B. Sc (Hons) Biotechnology & Microbiology and M.Sc. Biotechnology & Microbiology during 14th – 15th October 2022. A total of 55 students had participated in the seminar. The program was organized to make the students aware of the recent innovations and upcoming opportunities in Life Sciences.
The program was started with Saraswati Vandana, followed by the welcome address given by Prof (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean & Head, Faculty of Life Sciences. Prof. Das, formally welcomed and introduced the guest to the participants. He Further, overviewed various opportunities available for the students in the field of Biotechnology and Microbiology.
On the first day, Mr. Bridreth Khokhare, Chief Scientist and Founder, Science on Wheels Pvt. Ltd., Punjab delivered the talk on “Innovation and upcoming opportunities in Nutra & Agri-processing”. He also explained abouts importance of nutraceutical in daily life and scope and opportunities in Agri-processing followed by presentation on “Life Science and Industry trends” by Mr. Vinod A. B. Associate Principal Scientist, Laxai Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad. Mr. Sachin S. Misal, Associate Scientist, East West Seeds India Pvt. Ltd. Aurangabad delivered a lecture on “Genome modifications in plant” and also explain various techniques used to modified genome in plants.
On the second day Dr. Rashmi Saini, Assistant Professor Department of Zoology Gargi College, University of Delhi, Delhi delivered a talk on “Role of Nitric Oxide Biology in Blood Cell Functions” and also explained the mechanism regulation of blood cell functions. Mr. Abhishek Dixit, Group Leader, Jubilant Biosys delivered a lecture on “Application of aqueous solubility in drug discovery” and also elaborated various opportunities of life science graduate in pharma industry. Lastly, Ms. Ishu Priya, Assistant Professor Department of Zoology Gargi College, University of Delhi, delivered a talk on “Vaccine technology” and discuss the scope of biotechnology in vaccine industries. During these two days of seminar the students learnt recent innovations and upcoming opportunities of life sciences in industries. The students took active participation in the two days’ seminar. The program was coordinated by Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali, Associate Professor and Mr. Abhishek Singh Rajawat, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences. All the faculty members of Life Sciences were present during the inaugural and valedictory sessions. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali, Associate Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences.
Outcome:
During these two days of seminar the students learnt recent innovations and upcoming opportunities of life sciences in industries. All the speakers answered queries raised by the participants.
